Embodi is an all-natural functional beverage company, first to market with a beverage offering high levels of antioxidants linked to cardiovascular health, weight loss, and longevity. Zam was initially hired to serve as a strategic adviser and develop the company’s sales and marketing strategy. The investors subsequently hired Zam to serve as CEO, responsible for marketing, sales, product development, manufacturing and distribution. Zam helped Embodi achieve national retail penetration, broad brand awareness, and a distinctive niche in the healthy beverage category. As a result of its unique position in the market, Embodi was acquired by a larger beverage company to strengthen its portfolio.


Mix1 is a beverage company providing high quality, all-natural products that support health, wellness and performance through truly functional nutrition. Zam helped Mix1’s founders define its brand positioning, develop its sales strategy and manage its sales efforts. Zam’s sales team secured national distribution for mix1 at Whole Foods market, Kroger, and numerous other grocery and natural food chains. This rapid sales growth helped mix1 secure financing from a large institutional investor and achieve leadership in the crowded beverage marketplace.


Eco-Products is the nation’s leading provider of biodegradable and compostable food service items. Eco-Products hired Zam to help the company determine if and how to launch a retail line of products for home use. Zam delivered a comprehensive market assessment and advised Eco-Products on all aspects of the retail brand: target market, brand positioning, naming, product selection, pricing, packaging, distribution, marketing and sales strategies. Early in its launch the product line was purchased by the nation’s second-largest largest grocery chain.


Halo is an all-natural line of pet treats, food, and supplements. After 20 years in business with modest success, Halo’s investors hired Zam to help it become a leading national brand. Zam advised Halo’s team on the product mix, package design, pricing, marketing and promotion plans, and distribution strategy. The re-launched Halo achieved national Whole Foods distribution, a multi-million dollar equity investment and national media coverage from Ellen DeGeneres, and ten-fold increase in revenue.


Sun Crystals is a 100% all natural sweetener made from stevia and cane sugar. The Sun Crystals brand was developed by a large consumer products company that had limited experience marketing natural products. They hired Zam to help them launch Sun Crystals into the market. Zam helped the Sun Crystals team define and understand their retail landscape, develop their sales strategy, and execute the plan. Sun Crystals achieved national retail distribution within 12 months of launch, partnerships that included Whole Foods and Kroger.


Ice Box Bakery produces small-batch, all-natural cookie dough using premium ingredients. The company launched successfully in 2007 and subsequently saw sales and distribution decline. Ice Box hired Zam to re-launch the business and develop it into a national brand. Zam developed Ice Box’s brand strategy: positioning, commissioned a new brand identity, packaging, and key messaging. Zam also created a marketing plan to build Ice Box’s brand awareness and customer loyalty, including events, new website, social networking, sampling/demos, and in-store marketing. Zam also hired and managed team to execute the plan. Today, Ice Box Bakery is distributed in virtually all regions of the country and is a leading brand of all natural ready to bake products.
